Major-General David Anthony Hirst Shaw CBE is a British Army officer who currently commands 2nd Division.
Brought up in Sri Lanka, Shaw was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1976 and went on to take part in operations in Cyprus, Bosnia and Northern Ireland.[1] He was appointed Brigadier, Northern England in 2002, Assistant Chief of Staff, Communications in 2004 and Director of Media and Communication at HQ Land Forces in 2007.[1] He took up the post of General Officer Commanding 2nd Division and Governor of Edinburgh Castle in 2009.[2]
Shaw was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours.[3]
